“Everyone is a photographer until [M]”
Favorite Quote by unknown
I’m a huge fan of traveling and capturing life’s experiences in print. I love Jesus, my family, my friends, different cultures, a cup of hot coffee … and, of course, my trusty Fuji cameras. Photography has always been a way for me to bring others along for the ride as I venture into the great outdoors.
Ever since I can remember, I have had a camera in my hands (except for in this picture … haha). One of my favorites was an instant camera I had as a kid. There was something magical about the image materializing right before my very eyes. It didn’t take much to entertain a child back in those days!
I love the film cameras of yesteryear with their easily accessible dials and aperture rings. That’s probably why I enjoy shooting with my Fujis so much. I primarily shoot in full manual mode [M]. I enjoy capturing light and shadows in ways that the algorithms of a camera never account for.
Much like an artist painting a masterpiece understands color, how the pressure of the brush will manipulate those colors and how distinct textures will come alive in different light, a photographer understands how to manipulate light as it dances on the dew of a blossoming flower or glistens in the mane of a wild horse as it laps water from a river.
It is said that a picture says a thousand words. It is my heart’s desire that while viewing my photography, your mind’s eye transports you to the moment the shutter was pressed and you sense the power of the galloping horse, the rage of the inferno sweeping across the desert, the newness of life as the flower opens in glorious praise.
I hope you will enjoy coming along for the journey.
